reduce screen time? turn your iPhone screen grey

If you struggle with screen time, this one is for you.

I’m definitely not perfect when it comes to screen time. I love using my computer for writing, coding, viewing pictures, and reading articles. But sometimes, I end up on sites like YouTube, where I get stuck watching videos I don’t even enjoy.

I’ll write about how I limit my access to specific websites in the near future, but today, I’m focusing on turning iPhone grey.

I’ve started experimenting with grayscale screen mode on my devices over the past few days, and the results have been promising. I learned about grayscale effects a while ago but never gave them a try until now.

I’ve created a shortcut that changes the current color filter, turning the device screen grey. This shortcut works on iPad and Mac as well. I don’t have any automations set up for it yet, but I’ve added it to the Control Center for easy access.

I usually enable it whenever I feel the need, most often in the evening. I do the same on my Mac, with the shortcut pinned in the Menu Bar.

You can get this shortcut here.
