best book of 2024

When I was in high school, I didn’t enjoy reading. I thought I was more of a “visual” type, so watching movies was my primary form of entertainment.

When I started university, things changed—for the better. I put myself on the path of self-improvement, and with it, I started reading books on the topic. While self-improvement books aren’t as much my cup of tea today, I fell in love with reading.

In 2024, I’ve read 15 books so far. This is similar to 2023, where I finished 12.

My favorite book I’ve read in 2024 is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin.

It has a great story with compelling characters. Every time I put it down, I couldn’t wait to pick it up again.

how to read more

For me, it was an e-reader that made it all happen. When I started reading books at university, I usually borrowed them from the library or bought my own copies. After realizing I’d read several books in just a few months, buying a dedicated reading device felt like the next step.

In my opinion, it’s important to establish a reading habit before investing in an e-reader.

In 2019, I bought a Kindle Paperwhite, which is still used by my sister today. Recently, I upgraded to the Kobo Libra Color.

I have some personal gripes with both devices, but if you’re into reading books and not overly critical about the design, any e-reader will do the job.

For me, having a dedicated device where I can instantly access almost any book I want was the friction remover I needed. I no longer had to visit the library or bookstore to start reading. Plus, since the device is compact, it’s always with me.

I try my best to read daily, usually before going to bed. I believe a daily reading habit, paired with a book you genuinely want to read, is the winning combination.
